ESSENTIAL HELP FOR MENOPAUSE

What many people do not realise is that the menopause can start quite early - in a woman's thirties. On the other hand, some women continue to menstruate well into their fifties.

There are safe ways to help yourself. Good nutrition, using cold-pressed cooking oils, taking vitamins and evening primrose oil, are all beneficial. Also, very helpful are these essential oils:

ESSENTIAL OILS FOR THE MENOPAUSE

  • Clary-sage

  • Geranium

  • Jasmine

  • Bois de rose

  • Nutmeg

  • Sage

  • Rose

  • Marc

  • Bergamot

  • Coriander

  • Red thyme

You can use any of the above singly, or make yourself a blend from the list. Alternatively, use one of the formulas below for specific symptoms.

 
 

Sweats and Flashes

Sweats and flashes are caused by the irregular function of the blood vessels when they constrict and dilate. This increases the blood flow, raises the temperature and slightly increases the heart rate. Probably the main discomfort is embarrassment when you suddenly turn red the break into a sweat while in the company of other people; Avoiding Stimulants like tea, coffee and alcohol is a good idea; and evening primrose oil is reported to work well with some women, especially if those who have hot flushes. Use the following formulas while the symptoms occur and additionally if you so wish:

HOT FLASHES FORMULA

  • Clary-sage 10 drops

  • Geranium 11 drops

  • Lemon 7 drops

  • Sage 2 drops

Dilute in 30ml vegetable oil or make a synergistic blend and use on a 1-1 basis (1 drop-1ml) as a massage oil.

Massage all over the body and use 5 drops of the synergistic blend in a bath whenever you wish.

 

DAY AND NIGHT SWEATS FORMULA

  • Grapefruit 10 drops

  • Lime 10 drops

  • Sage 5 drops

  • Thyme 5 drops

Dilute in 30ml vegetable oil or make a synergistic blend and use on a 1-1 basis as a massage oil.

Massage all over the body and use 5 drops of the synergistic blend in

a daily bath.

 
 

Other Problems:

WATER RETENTION AND BLOATING FORMULA

  • Fennel 5 drops)

  • Juniper 5 drops

  • Lemon 15 drops

  • Peppermint 5 drops

Dilute in 30ml vegetable oil or Make a synergistic blend and use on a 1-1 basis as a massage oil.

Use every day. Massage in the abdominal area and lower back. Use 5 drops of the synergistic blend in the bath daily.

 

CIRCULATORY PROBLEMS FORMULA

  • Geranium 10 drops

  • Peppermint 5 drops

  • Rose Maroc 10 drops

  • Patchouli 5 drops 1-1

Dilute in 30ml vegetable oil or make a synergistic blend and use on a basis as a massage oil.

Massage daily. Always massage in the direction of the heart. If it's the legs that are affected, massage from feet to thigh; if the hands, massage from fingers, up the arm; and if the whole body is affected, massage front and back of the torso. And use 5 drops in the bath daily. You only need to use a small amount of the massage oil because even as little as a teaspoon should be enough for the whole body if you apply it lightly. The oil should disappear into the skin, rather than leave an oily residue on the surface.

 

The base vegetable oil is merely the medium through which one can deliver the essential oils to the body surface so they can penetrate the skin; this isn't meant to be a skin moisturising treatment.
